Sudan – the land of blacks

from the mouth of the Mediterranean
a silent tear travels all the way to Khartoum,
and an outrage bursts into a violence
the sirens said
‘rape their women and stripe their dignity
rape their men and cover them with shrouds of shame’
and we here sitting on comfortable couches
hear only the deafness
there’s a blackout in the land of the blacks
the Nile is growing pale with a fever
her hands are exhausted
after catching forty bleeding foreheads
who never bowed down to the oppression
and were thrown brutally onto her.
the water isn’t only life saving
sometimes it becomes a survivor itself
carrying the load of the deaths
hatred poured with love.

wear war on your sleeves
speak of hatred from your blunt lips
a voice doesn’t quiver in the noise of the guns
while a body continues to shiver under the hands
that only care about rupturing vagina
and breaking penis
but no amount of rapes can stop this revolution
the water is blue
the wounds too,
carry the same shade
don’t tell me to stop writing
for my pen will bleed
till the Nile dries up
and if someday Nile floods your taps,
remember it’s the blood from the revolution
it will smell of gunpowder.

no religion teaches violence
no religion preaches hatred
it’s us who blindfold our love
and see only power
it’s us who wear the badge of religion
over our pockets
and forget the heart that bleeds inside
we hide behind masks of ignorance
nurturing hatred in our countries
be it Sudan/Yemen/Syria/Afghan
raise your voice
before the story becomes a novel
raise your voice
for today a story travels faster than a book
raise your voice
for oppressors are everywhere
and the only thing they feed on
is the silent ignorance we all carry.

no amount of love
can wash away the injustice
the Nile was made to carry
there’s no bigger threat
other than humans
themselves
to humanity.

To all those raising their voice, don’t let the revolution die.💙

  7. The events in Sudan, of late, are the stuff of true nightmares.. You are spot on about religion NOT being the advocate of violence.

It isn’t. No scripture ever wanted us to kill innocent for the sake of power. It is the human who is blinded by money and power that is making him/her do all these acts of violence.
